It is a prime example of one of the earliest and most significant Second Empire Style country houses in the United States.

In 2012, Glee star Cheyenne Jackson starred in a music video at the Mansion for his song, "Before You," featuring Christina Cole and Saturday Night Live actress Rachel Dratch.

Actors Nicole Kidman, Bette Midler, Matthew Broderick, Christopher Walken, and Glenn Close have walked the expanse of the Mansion's Rotunda while filming the 2004 reboot of The Stepford Wives.
