Why You Should Go...

Inspired by the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, which began in 1545, the Christkindlmarket Chicago brings a cherished German and European tradition with international flair and local charm to Chicago.

While the Christkind from Nuremberg, Germany has visited the Chicago market in previous years during the first weekend of the market, 2013 marked the first year there was an original Chicago Christkind.

Keeping with the tradition from previous years, the Christkind will be part of the Grand Opening Ceremony at the Preview Party, reciting her prologue translated from the original German, to welcome visitors to the Christkindlmarket Chicago. Additionally, during the market the young and young at heart will have the opportunity to meet and greet and take pictures with her as she roams the market, sharing German holiday traditions and telling Christmas stories.
