Heritage Museums & Gardens invited five artists to install outdoor sculptures throughout the museum grounds and gardens. Each of the artists will install their works in a different month of the summer season (May – September). See monumental public art, meet the artists, watch them work, and participate in hands-on artmaking workshops. With this group of artists, you get a little bit of everything: metal, wood, fiber, sound, mixed media, painting and more.

Mermaids, Windmills and Soldiers, Oh My!
Ralph Cahoon (1910-1982) is one of Cape Cod’s most recognizable painters. Dotted with sailors, mermaids, schooners, and more, Cahoon’s paintings are witty, winking nods to Cape Cod archetypes and stories. In the 1970s, Cahoon and his wife and fellow painter, Martha, became close friends with Heritage’s founder, Josiah Kirby Lilly, III. Mr. Lilly became an important patron, purchasing dozens of works by both Ralph and Martha.
