Why You Should Go...

The Gateway Arch is the nation's tallest monument and anchors Gateway Arch National Park (formerly Jefferson National Expansion Memorial). The iconic monument symbolizes St. Louis' role in the westward expansion of the United States. Located on the Mississippi Riverfront in downtown St. Louis, the Arch offers many family-friendly experiences, including the Tram Ride to the Top, Monument to the Dream documentary movie, The Arch Store, and a brand new museum which opened July 3, 2018.

Gateway Arch National Park also includes the Old Courthouse, one of St. Louis' most prominent architectural landmarks that has served as the backdrop for some of America's pivotal early legal cases, such as Dred Scott's suit for freedom. The Old Courthouse is free and open to the public and features restored courtrooms and museum exhibit galleries showcasing the St. Louis' role in westward expansion.
