Why You Should Go...

The American Classical Orchestra, under the direction of founder Thomas Crawford, is New York City’s leading period instrument orchestra. Comprised of some of the nation’s finest instrumentalists, ACO play

ACO is devoted to preserving and performing music by composers of the Baroque, Classical, and Early Romantic periods. The orchestra plays music on original 18th and 19th-century instruments and uses historic performance technique, bringing audiences closer to the experience of hearing the music as it was originally written and performed. 

2018-2019 marks the orchestra’s 35th season. Highlights include an all-Bach program with renowned flutist Sandra Miller and the acclaimed ACO Chorus & soloists (March 7), a chamber music concert with world-class pianists Malcolm Bilson, Steve Lubin, and Eric Zivian at Ethical Culture Society (March 9), and our season finale concert, featuring Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony (May 17).
