Architect Leo Venchiarutti designed the McMichael’s original home in 1954, as well as the subsequent additions in 1963, 1967, 1969 and 1972.

A.Y. Jackson resided in the McMichaels’ home for several years of his life, and often regaled visitors with anecdotes.

The McMichael is the gallery of record for works on paper from the Cape Dorset Inuit community, totalling more than 100,000 artworks.
