Why You Should Go...
One of Niagara-on-the-Lake's founding family wineries, established in 1982 by The Reif Family and later fulfilled by Klaus W. Reif. Today,
Reif produces wines from its 125-acre vineyard, first planted in 1977, and is in the Niagara River sub-appellation, where sun-loving grape varieties grow most excellently. A long growing season is refined by the river, as air currents hinder early spring and late fall frosts.
The vineyard is planted in Ontario’s warmest sub-appellation, which is ideal to produce rich, full-bodied wines.
The farm is also home to some of the oldest vinifera plantings in Canada—a benefit to growers in cooler climates like Ontario, as mature vines ripen earlier. Wines are produced to reflect the ‘terroir,' so when you taste our wines, you will taste the essence of the vineyard.

Fun Facts
Reif Estate Winery has enjoyed international acclaim for their Icewines for over 20 years. In 1987 our Vidal Icewine was named by renowned Wine Critic, Robert Parker Jr., as one of the year's Top Ten Wines.
Since 1984 Reif's Icewines have received over 100 Gold Awards.
The grapes for Icewine are picked in winter at temperatures of at least -8˚C so that only the highly concentrated juice is pressed from the frozen berries, leaving behind the icy water crystals.
The result of these unique climatic conditions is a deliciously sweet wine with exceptionally high concentrations of sugars, acids, and extracts from the grapes with intense flavours and aromas.
