Fun Facts
Near the train gates, there is a statue of A. Philip Randolph, who was a great labor and civil rights leader, as well as the organizer and first President of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters.
Scenes from Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), Strangers on a Train (1951), Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977), Traffic (2000), Hannibal (2001), Collateral Damage (2002), Head of State (2003), The Recruit (2003), and Wedding Crashers (2005) were filmed in Union Station.
Over the years, the following were housed in Union Station: barber shop, bowling alley, fountains, mortuary, movie theater, smoking room, and Turkish bath.
