His own ancestor, Judge John Hathorne had a hand to play in the tragic events of 1692. Performances begin every ten minutes in The Nathaniel Hawthorne Birthplace. Each lasts about 35 minutes. See both Legacy of the Hanging Judge and Spirits of the Gables with a combination ticket option.
