Over the last 40 years Bob Stewart has established himself as both an innovative tuba player and equally creative jazz educator. As a band leader, recording artist, and featured soloist Mr. Stewart’s playing has been featured on over 80 recordings. He has performed and recorded with such luminaries as Gil Evans, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Haden, Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus, Carla Bley, Wynton Marsalis, Lester Bowie, Henry Threadgill, Arthur Blythe, Chaka Khan, and Aretha Franklin to name a few.

    Harlem Jazz Series: Ras Moshe Burnett
    Ras is a saxophonist, poet, teacher and returning student working towards a music therapy degree. Ras studied music in the public schools, (mentored in Jazz history by Don Payne in Junior High), and with his father and grandfather, eventually playing in reggae bands in the 80’s and early 90’s, then leading his own Jazz groups since 1987. Ras is a nine- year member of Bill Cole’s Untempered Ensemble featuring Warren Smith, Joseph Daley, Gerald Veasley, Althea SullyCole and Lisette Santiago.
