Wear comfortable walking shoes. Most destinations are a 20-minute walk or less. Look for “Walk there” signs to help plan a route. Decatur is famously walk-friendly, bicycle friendly and ADA compliant. Look for their boldly colorful crosswalks.

Decatur is easy to access from nearly anywhere in the world. Take MARTA from Hartsfield-Jackson International airport to the Decatur station at their downtown square. Stay at the Marriott Courtyard just one block north of the square.

Decatur is a hot spot for TV and film projects, and locals love to see snippets of the town on screens large and small. Recent projects filmed in Decatur include Sleepy Hollow (Season 4), American Made, Ozark, and MacGyver.

The Brickstore Pub on East Court Square is recognized as the second best beer pub in the world. The three owners were recently knighted in Brussels for their contributions to the Belgian beer tradition. 

Decatur’s Treehouse Kid & Craft (best kids store) Kimball House (best oysters) and Funny Monkey Comedy at Java Monkey (best local comedy show) were all voted Best of Atlanta by Atlanta Magazine and Creative Loafing newspaper.
