The set – designed by founder Frank Roughton Harvey – in 1975 includes The Temple, The Sanhedrin, Pilate’s Court/Temple, The Carpenter Shop, The Upper Room, Mary’s House, Herod’s Palace, The Tomb, The Garden of Gethsemane, The Sermon on The Mount and The Crucifixion. 

Attend Crucifixed, a Youth/Family Rally with two national recording artists (Nine Lashes and Shiloh), a youth speaker, a spoken word poet, and two praise and worship teams. 

Enjoy the Jerusalem Experience, a multi-sensory day of costume making, carpentry, games, food, and more at The Living Word.

If it’s raining, call ahead to make sure the drama will be presented. The drama is rarely canceled, except under extreme conditions. There is a pavilion should anyone not want to sit in the amphitheatre if it drizzles or is blazing hot. Umbrellas are allowed.

Wear comfortable walking shoes should if you want to participate in a Behind The Scenes Tour, which is an up close and personal guided tour of the 450-foot panoramic set. The amphitheatre has a wheelchair ramp available, making it easy for all visitors to get to their seats.

Fun Facts

The Founder of The Living Word Outdoor Drama is Rev. Frank Roughton Harvey. He presented Behold The Man in Atlanta, Ga., during The Civil Rights Movement and utilized an African-American male to portray Christ. To this day, the play is called The Miracle That Saved Atlanta. 

The Living Word Outdoor Drama can also lay claim to fame that it is indeed Ohio’s Only Passion Play and is the second longest running (42 years) and second biggest behind The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
