The NASA Glenn Visitor Glenn Center is one of only 11 NASA Visitor Centers in the country, and the only one north of the Mason-Dixon line.

The Steamship William G. Mather is listed in the International Register of Historic Ships. The Mather has been recognized for these technological Great Lakes firsts: single marine boiler system (1954); boiler automation system (1964); and dual propeller bow thruster system (1964).
