18th Century Loyalist Thomas Smythe – for whom Smiths Falls was named – never actually set foot in the area.

In 1963, the first Beatles album for the North American market was pressed by RCA in Smiths Falls.

In 1912 the Smiths Falls Bascule Bridge was built to carry the CN Railway mainline over the Rideau Canal. It was designated a National Historic Site in 1983.

    Relax and destress with Monday evening yoga classes from 6 pm until 7:15. All levels welcome and no experience is necessary. Everyone works at their own pace. First class is free and subsequent classes are $15 pay as you go with no commitment. Location 93 Merrick Street in Smiths Falls. Registration for each class is required by e-mail. Email marina.quattro@bellnet to register for your first class or for more information.
