Mount Vernon is the most visited historic home in America. In addition, Mount Vernon is consistently ranked as a top attraction - not only in Virginia and the DC area, but nationally and internationally.
The estate is owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association (MVLA), which was founded in 1853 and is the first national historic preservation organization in the United States. The MVLA is directed by a Board of Regents, comprised solely of women, who represent nearly 30 states.
