The Kent Stage, in the heart of downtown, hosts live music concerts, plays, and film festivals. It was constructed in 1927 as a silent movie and vaudevillian theater and is the sole surviving downtown theater in the county.

There are numerous celebrities with roots in Kent; such as Chrissie Hynde, Michael Keaton, Drew Carey, Joe Walsh, Arsenio Hall, Lou Holtz and Jack Lambert.
