Why You Should Go...

It's a city-within-a-city, warehouse of wonder. It's the premier instance of urban reuse, beauty, and art from rescued materials. But WHAT is it?

Strictly speaking, it's 175,000 square feet of exploration, climbing, tunnels, slides created from industrial and natural elements located inside and outside of an old shoe factory. It's home to multiple castles handcrafted by artisans using traditional methods. It's got giant indoor caves and a Ferris Wheel on the roof and several treehouses.

Physical activity not so much for you? An extensive collection of long-unseen architectural ornament by Louis Sullivan fills one gallery; contemporary art and sculpture by established and emerging artists, in another. Collections of various kinds pop up in nooks and crannies and whole rooms, for that matter. It's got color and sparkle and mirrors while paying homage to/creatively using world-class architectural pieces.
