The boat Gansett was built in 1969 in Cranberry Isle, Maine, as a lobster boat that fished between Newport, RI, and Maine.
A Coffee Cabinet is a Rhode Island milkshake that originated around the World War II era. It consists of coffee syrup, ice cream, and milk. Coffee syrup came to Rhode Island with the large influx of Italian immigrants at the turn of the century.
Ganset departs from the old Ferry Landing dock. In 1873, the Newport to Jamestown ferry was the first ferry in the country.
