Did you know that Santa Claus was created in New York City?   At the turn of the 19th century, members of the New-York Historical Society crafted the figure of Santa Claus in America’s imagination, transforming a fourth-century bishop into a jolly gift-giver with his own team of flying reindeer. Their efforts culminated in the 1823 publication of the Clement Clarke Moore poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas.” It’s now more commonly known as “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
