Be sure to check the weather for your day or weekend visit.  Layers are your friend in Crawford County! While thinking about what to pack, maybe consider sunscreen and bug spray if you are heading here for the outdoor activities!

With a rural atmosphere, be sure to watch out for deer on the road, but don’t be scared – they are friendly and even come into town neighborhoods to eat the plants.

Crawford County is close to Amish so don’t be surprised if you get the share the road with a Horse and Buggy on the back roads, but also a few bikers in the “city”, both motorcycle bikers and cyclists.

Fun Fact, Crawford County has historical roots with Big Historical players like George Washington, the Underground Railroad, and is the birthplace of oil.  You can kayak the same path as Washington, visit Underground Railroad locations and tour the first Oil derrick on the same weekend.

Did you know Crawford County is home to the zipper? That is right, your outfit would not be the same without Crawford County’s former Talon business who created the zipper and sold the patten. The Talon Zipper can be found on Astronaut suits and both Allied and Axis airman suits from WW2.

Crawford County is home to 8 different lakes.  Some are known for their size like Pymatuning Lake, which is PA’s largest man-made reservoir. Conneaut Lake is the largest natural lake in PA. It was created approximately 12,000 years ago by a glacier that may have been as much as a mile thick.
