Planning a wedding can be a hectic experience, with many different aspects (dress, cake, music, et cetera) to keep track of, it can be difficult to keep sight on the end goal: joining together with your beloved at the altar.
So, it would seem to go without saying that one of the most important parts of the wedding should be where to hold it.
Some couples already have their heart set on a spot, such as the church or temple they were raised in. Others may opt for a wedding outside of a church due to personal beliefs.
For those couples, the decision is a bit easier. However, some couples may want to marry in a church (or temple), but be unaware of where to hold their ceremony because they are not members of a church.
Some things to keep in mind when deciding where to get married when you are on the fence about where to tie the knot.
- Childhood church. Where did you attend services as a child? Perhaps go back and see if the nostalgic church is the one for you.
- Denomination. Were you raised Catholic, Protestant, Unitarian, Methodist? Does it matter to your family what denomination church you get married in? And will their wishes necessarily influence your PERSONAL decision?
- Space. If you don't really care too much about what kind of church and just want ANY church, take time to view the options available to you. How big is your wedding going to be? Will there be enough space? Are the pews comfortable? Is the inside a bit draconian for your tastes? Keep these things in mind while looking for a place to wed and remember the most important part is happily forming a union with your spouse.
