A.J. Henry Park covers about 72 acres of city parkland in the northeast part of Tallahassee, surrounded by several residential neighborhoods. The city bought the property in 1985 with help from a state conservation grant and a private donor, and named it for Dr. Joe Henry, the former owner. The first development phase added picnic areas, a playground, open play space, and nature and walking trails. Today the park offers four picnic shelters, a large pavilion, a restroom building, hiking trails, and parking.
