Arlington National Cemetery Tours

1 Memorial Ave · Arlington, VA

Why you should go…

Arlington National Cemetery Tours, run by Historic Tours of America (the Old Town Trolley company), is the only authorized tour service inside the cemetery. Open-air trams leave the Welcome Center at 1 Memorial Avenue every 30 minutes on a roughly 45-minute narrated loop with seven stops on weekdays and eight on weekends, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and its changing of the guard, the John F. Kennedy gravesite and Arlington House. Riders may step off and reboard at any stop. Tours run 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM daily; the cemetery is open 8 AM to 5 PM year-round, with tours starting at 2 PM on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Good to know

General tours guidance

Habits that pay off across this whole category, not rules for this one venue. Always check the official site for the specifics.

  • Confirm the meeting point

It is often a corner, a lobby, or a dock rather than the address you searched for. Check it the night before.

  • Small groups fill first

In high season the intimate departures sell out well before the big-bus options do.

  • Ask how much is on foot

Knowing how much of the route is walking, standing, or outdoors tells you what to wear and carry.

  • Read the weather policy

Cancellation windows and rain rules vary by operator, and they are easier to find before you pay than after.
