Why you should go…

Completed in 1883 as the world's first steel-wire suspension bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge is still the city's best free attraction. The elevated pedestrian promenade runs 1.1 miles between City Hall Park and Dumbo, passing under twin gothic granite towers with the harbor, Statue of Liberty, and Lower Manhattan skyline spread out on either side. Go at sunrise to beat the crowds, then reward yourself with pizza or ice cream on the Brooklyn side.
