This open-air museum recreates the stockade fort of Number 4, in the 1740s the northernmost British settlement on the Connecticut River. The rebuilt houses follow the structures that stood in 1746, the year before a three-day siege by French and Abenaki forces that the small militia garrison held off. Costumed demonstrations, reenactments and workshops show frontier life from 1735 to 1770 and the settlers' ties with Native peoples. Adult admission is $15, seniors and military pay $12, and children 5 and under get in free.
