Fort Stevens State Park

100 Peter Iredale Rd · Hammond, OR

Why you should go…

Fort Stevens State Park spreads over 4,300 acres at the mouth of the Columbia River, around a fort that guarded the river from the Civil War until 1947. You can walk among the concrete artillery batteries, then head to the beach to see the rusted hull of the Peter Iredale, a sailing ship that wrecked here in 1906. The park has 15 miles of multi-use trails, swimming and a 2-mile path at Coffenbury Lake, a disc golf course and one of the largest public campgrounds in the country.
