Heini's Cheese Chalet

6005 County Road 77 · Millersburg, OH

Why you should go…

Heini's Cheese Chalet is the retail front of Bunker Hill Cheese, a Holmes County cheesemaker rooted in Swiss immigrant John Dauwalder's craft and operating since 1948. Visitors sample dozens of house cheeses, from Swiss and cheddar to feta, raw-milk and A2-milk varieties, watch production through a viewing window, and shop meats and Amish Country foods; there is bus parking for tour groups. It sits on County Road 77 about a mile northeast of Berlin off Route 62. Open Monday to Saturday from 9am, with Sunday hours in the busy season.

Good to know

General shopping guidance

Habits that pay off across this whole category, not rules for this one venue. Always check the official site for the specifics.

  • Vendor hours are their own thing

Market stalls and independent sellers keep shorter hours than the building around them, and quiet days end early.

  • Bring a tote and a little cash

Smaller sellers do not all take cards, and bags are rarely free.

  • Weekdays browse, weekends buzz

Pick the weekday for a proper look at the shelves and the weekend for the atmosphere.

  • Ask about shipping

If something will not survive the suitcase, plenty of sellers will send it home for you.
