Parker Dam State Park is a 968-acre park in Clearfield County, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and surrounded by Moshannon State Forest. Its 20-acre lake has a sand beach, fishing and room for boats without gas motors, with rustic cabins and a campground along the shore. A 1985 tornado flattened much of the forest; Mud Run Road now splits the area that was left alone from the area that was logged, so you can see how each side regrew. The park is the western trailhead of the 75-mile Quehanna Trail, and entry is free, as at all Pennsylvania state parks.
