Rail Explorers' Amador Division offers electric-assisted railbike rides along the historic Amador Central Railroad, built in 1904 to connect Ione and Martell. The roughly 8-mile round trip runs about two hours through Sierra Nevada foothill scenery to the Sunnybrook Turnaround, overlooking the remains of an 1863 copper mine. Bikes use the company's REX Propulsion System for pedal assist, and the operator also runs sunset rides and seasonal special events like the Gold Country Harvest Run.
