About Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway

The Greenway is a 17-acre park that curves through Chinatown, the Financial District, the Waterfront and the North End on land freed up when the Big Dig took down the elevated Central Artery. It opened in 2008 and is named for Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, who was born in the North End. Along the way are gardens, seven fountains, rotating public art, food trucks and more than 400 free events a year. The Greenway Carousel, with animals native to New England, costs $4 a ride and sits steps from Faneuil Hall.
