About Rosedale World War I Memorial Arch

This monument was built in 1924 to remember the World War I veterans of Rosedale, a former municipality on the southern edge of Kansas City, Kansas. Rosedale resident John LeRoy Marshall designed it with the Arc de Triomphe in mind. It sits on Mount Marty and is lit at night, so it is most visible after dark from the Rainbow Boulevard and Southwest Boulevard intersection. A historic marker placed under the arch in 1993 also honors veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
