The Steamboat Natchez is one of the last authentic steam-powered paddle wheelers on the Mississippi River, built in 1975 in the style of the great 19th-century riverboats. Daytime harbor cruises and evening dinner-jazz cruises depart from the Toulouse Street Wharf behind Jackson Square, with a live jazz band playing on most sailings. The steam calliope on the top deck is audible throughout the French Quarter before departure.
