768 Fifth Ave · New York, NY
The Plaza has stood at Fifth Avenue and Central Park South since 1907, a French Renaissance chateau-style hotel designed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh and now a National Historic Landmark. The Palm Court, at the center of the ground floor, serves afternoon tea under a stained glass ceiling restored in the mid-2000s, and there is also a Champagne Bar and The Plaza Boutique. The hotel is home to Eloise, the girl from Kay Thompson's books, who has her own shop here.

Rates swing with the calendar
Midweek nights and shoulder-season dates are usually the kindest on price.
Read what is included
Parking, resort fees, and breakfast are the three extras that most often land on the final bill.
Ask at booking, not at the desk
Early check-in, late checkout, and room preferences go further when you request them in advance.
On a short trip, location wins
What you can reach on foot from the door matters more than the amenities list.
