About USS Edson

USS Edson is a Forrest Sherman-class destroyer built at Bath Iron Works in 1958 and decommissioned in 1988 as the last all-gun destroyer in the Navy. She served off Vietnam and helped evacuate Phnom Penh and Saigon in 1975. After 15 years as a museum ship at the Intrepid in New York, she came to the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum in Bay City and has been moored here since 2013. Self-guided visits are the norm, and guided tours need three days' notice.
