Arrive 15 to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. Earlier arrivals will have to wait landside.

Outside food and beverages are permitted. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Tours embark at 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm on Thursdays and Fridays through August; as well as 10:30 am and 1:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays through September. Schedule is subject to change.

Explorer is highly unique - a green riverboat, it's the world's first vessel to have LEED standards applied to its entire engineering and construction process. It was designed to host environmental science programs for K-12 students. Proceeds from tours support student programs.

Travelling at gentle speeds, the Explorer offers a comfortable cruising experience. Exterior decks allow for unobstructed views and interior rooms are temperature controlled with expansive windows. 

For over 25 years, Rivers of Steel, a non-profit organization, has worked to tell the stories of southwestern Pennsylvania; visitors learn about Pittsburgh's steel heritage by taking a tour of the Carrie Blast Furnaces National Historic Landmark. Visit riversofsteel.com for more information.
