About African American Military History Museum

The museum occupies a building that began as a USO club serving Black soldiers stationed at Camp Shelby during World War II. It now focuses on preserving and interpreting the service of African American military members from the local area. Visitors can explore the exhibits on their own, and guided tours can be arranged. The museum also offers educational programs in history, the arts, and STEM for all ages, both on site and at outside locations. It accepts 18th through 21st century objects, documents, and photographs tied to African American military service, and it welcomes monetary donations.
