Angel Island State Park

Ayala Cove, reached by ferry from Tiburon or San Francisco · Tiburon, CA

Why you should go…

Angel Island is the largest natural island in San Francisco Bay, and with no roads or bridges you get there only by public ferry or private boat. Once ashore at Ayala Cove you can hike or bike the island, climb Mount Caroline Livermore at 788 feet, and see the bay skyline and Mount Tamalpais. The U.S. Immigration Station, which operated from 1910 to 1940 and processed immigrants mainly from Asia, is preserved on the island. Dogs are not allowed, apart from service animals.
