A 150-acre northeastern Pennsylvania park centered on a deep glacial pothole formed thousands of years ago.

This small state park in Lackawanna County is built around Archbald Pothole, a geologic feature left behind by glaciers roughly 15,000 years ago. The pothole is an elliptical hole about 38 feet deep that narrows as it descends. Its volume is large enough to hold roughly 140,000 gallons of water. The eastern part of the park was reclaimed from former strip mining and includes athletic fields at Ed Staback Park. Visitors come for the geology, hiking, and the chance to see a striking natural formation. The park has no reservable facilities, and cell service can be unreliable, so downloading the park map before arriving is advised.
