About Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota

Francis A. Johnson started wrapping this ball of baler twine in March 1950 and kept at it four hours a day for 29 years. It is 12 feet across and weighs 17,400 pounds. It sits in a enclosed gazebo on Main Street across from the town park, on view every day of the year. The small museum next door is free and run by volunteers, so its hours vary. Darwin holds Twine Ball Day on the second Saturday in August.
