Bonneville Salt Flats
Bonneville Speedway Access Road, north of I-80 Exit 4 · Wendover, UT
Why you should go…
The Bonneville Salt Flats are about 30,000 acres of hard, white salt crust on public land near Wendover, a remnant of the ancient Lake Bonneville. From Interstate 80 Exit 4 you head north and follow the signs to the Speedway, where racing dates to 1914. People come for racing, running, archery, photography and research. There is no day-use fee, and during permitted races you can still walk up to 100 feet onto the salt from the portal sign.
