Boulder City was built in the 1930s to house workers constructing Hoover Dam and remains Nevada's only incorporated city without legal gambling. It sits about eight miles from Hoover Dam and five miles from Lake Mead National Recreation Area, roughly 21 miles southeast of Las Vegas. The Boulder City Chamber of Commerce runs a Welcome Center downtown and promotes the city's historic district, dam tours and lake access.
