The Butchart Gardens is a 55-acre display garden in Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, developed from a former limestone quarry starting in 1904. It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 2004 and draws over a million visitors a year to its Sunken Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden and Italian Garden. The gardens are open every day of the year and also host a summer fireworks program and seasonal boat tours.
