Cheboygan State Park covers 1,250 acres on Lake Huron with nearly 4 miles of shoreline, three miles east of Cheboygan off US-23. Trails lead to the foundation of the 1859 Cheboygan Point Light, with views of the Fourteen Foot Shoal Light and, farther out, the Poe Reef Light. You can swim at the beach, fish Elliot Creek and Duncan Bay, and rent rustic hike-in cabins set about 40 to 60 yards from the lake, with no electricity. Cars need a Recreation Passport: $12 a day or $42 a year for out-of-state vehicles, $15 a year for Michigan plates.
