Crazy Horse Memorial is a mountain carving in progress in South Dakota's Black Hills, begun in 1948 to honor the Lakota leader Crazy Horse. When finished it is planned to measure 641 feet wide and 563 feet tall, which would make it the world's largest mountain carving; the face was completed in 1998 and work continues on the horse and rider. The complex includes the Indian Museum of North America, the Native American Educational and Cultural Center, a restaurant, and bus tours to the base of the mountain, with Native American cultural performances held in summer.
