About Eli Whitney Museum & Workshop

This hands-on workshop museum sits on the site of the armory Eli Whitney built in 1798, where the Mill River falls between East Rock and Mill Rock. On weekends walk-in visitors can build a project with help from a museum apprentice and see pieces from the Gilbert Collection, named for A.C. Gilbert. Outside are the waterfall, a red covered bridge and the old factory grounds. Admission is always free; enter the Main Building by the doors next to the covered bridge.
