About Finn's Point National Cemetery

Finn's Point National Cemetery sits at the northern edge of the former Fort Mott Military Reservation in Pennsville Township, New Jersey. Its grounds are surrounded by a national wildlife refuge and border Fort Mott State Park. The cemetery began as a burial place for Confederate prisoners who died at Fort Delaware on Pea Patch Island, and it was later designated a national cemetery in 1875. Visitors can see a Union monument from 1879 and a tall Confederate obelisk from 1910 that lists the names of prisoners who died during the Civil War. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
