Greenbrier State Park sits in the Appalachian Mountains on South Mountain, in Washington County. Its man-made freshwater lake is a draw for swimmers, paddlers, boaters, and anglers, and the lakeside beach is popular on warm days. The park has about eleven miles of hiking trails through varied wildlife habitats, where rock outcrops reveal parts of the region's geologic past. A section of the Appalachian Trail crosses the eastern edge of the park. Campers can choose from tent, RV, pet-friendly, and electric-hookup sites with bathhouses in each loop. A year-round visitor center offers information on the wider South Mountain Recreation Area, and the park provides accessible facilities including a beach wheelchair.
