Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

7455 Kalanianaole Hwy · Honolulu, HI

Why you should go…

Hanauma Bay is a curved bay on Oahu's southeast coast, set inside a volcanic tuff ring that formed about 32,000 years ago. It has been a protected marine area since 1967, and about 400 species of fish live in its waters, along with green sea turtles. Every visitor watches a short educational video about the reef before heading down to the beach. Entry is by reservation, opened online two days ahead, with a limited number of walk-in tickets.
