About Hood Museum of Art

The Hood Museum of Art is Dartmouth College's teaching museum, with a collection begun in 1772 that now holds about 65,000 objects from six continents. Highlights include six Assyrian stone reliefs from the palace of Ashurnasirpal II, carved around 900 BCE. The building reopened in 2019 after an expansion by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects. Admission is free, and metered parking lines Wheelock and Lebanon Streets. Nearby in Dartmouth's library is the Orozco mural The Epic of American Civilization.
