The House of the Seven Gables, also known as the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion, is a 1668 colonial home on the Salem, Massachusetts waterfront that inspired Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1851 novel of the same name. Restored as a museum in 1910 by philanthropist Caroline Emmerton, the two-acre campus includes period gardens and several historic buildings, including Hawthorne's birthplace relocated to the site in 1958. It was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 2007.
